Nice print Ron. I am not into the 3D print world (yet?) but others who visit here may be interested in what machine and product you used. Nice idea...at first I thought from the first image that this was some kind of Coffee shop on rails sort of like a food truck that traveled around to events across the country.

Haha funny that you say that Super, its infact just a regular tram with coffee ads on it. Its currently in the Straßenbahn Museum Hannover (Tram Museum Hannover) in which im part of and now lead the workshops that repairs and inspects trams. Its hard but fun! Always had a favor on this tram. The engines sound great, they are powerful, it drives like good butter, One door kept smashing against a wall and after unmounting a whole cab it revelead that the littel rail guiding the door is lose due to the wood its attachted to having rotten away. Not good but I couldnt just replace the bars, so I jammed it in with Screws in other places but it works....

Cheers

Nice print and paint job there Ron, how does the model run on the chassis you chose?

The J50 shell that I printed from Thingiverse.

The way the shell was printed is that there were issues with it. This was in fact after I was sanding it.

I have not had a "full" session with this model yet as its been sitting on my desk for weeks now and I just recently got around to grab a spray gun to paint it. It runs on the default loco chassis so not very different from all other trains. Still wanting to make the trailing cars for it to have a full 3 car set.

Cheers

WIP GNR 4 wheel 6 compartment 3rd class coach.

My favorite type of coaches have always been the teak finished ones, and getting some of the Hornby Gresley stock recently I wanted to get any hands on a rake of 4 and 6 wheel coaches in Teak.

Hornby's offerings are much too overpriced and as Hattons are sadly closing up It has meant that there is only one option left.... To make them myself, so using an some images I've found I was able to but this general body together. I've still got to detail it, but it's definitely the most realistic option as it's been designed especially to be a GNR coach, based on No 903

Thats a great idea and I'll love to see how they end up when finished, however I suspect you'll find recreating a wood effect far more difficult than you can imagine.  I'm quite experienced with painting as I used to paint loads of wargaming miniatures when I was younger and wood is one of the most difficult things to recreate, especially if you want to do so on a flat surface.  If you have the grain built into the moulding then its a lot easier as you can just paint it with a light brown, give it a brown ink 'wash' then if needed add some intermediate brown dry brushing to lift the colour of the surfaces.  Either that or use something to remove the excess ink from the raised surfaces, its difficult to say which would be better.

Incidentally Hornby has some of the 4 wheel teak coaches in their 2024 sale at the moment if you're looking for cheaper versions of their work...
