RE: The New 3D Printing Thread - Nigels - 07-10-2022

Hi Super,

Yes unfortunately that can happen if you try to print a layer into thin air you end up with just strings of plastic which can then get stuck elsewhere which cause even more issues.

The waste is effectively the supports for the inside of the top of the boiler and cab roof. Although you can get away with some 'overhangs' if the overhang is too large you have to have supports to make sure the layers get printed in the right place. This can result in quite a lot of waste at times, but not as much waste as a totally failed model.

I will try to fix the model by adding some extra layers where I think they may be needed and print it again. If I can fix the model I'll let you guys know where the corrected model can be downloaded from.

I'm doing my first 3D print right now. It's that J94 just as planned. It's gonna take a little over 3 hours so hopefully it comes out good.

This is going to be a pretty good one hopefully.

The filament is the overture brand.

I also loaded it with Tinkercad which is what6 the printer uses.

Just let you guys know, an updated file for the Trackmaster Hunslet Austerity shell has been uploaded to thingiverse.

Same link as before but an updated file

Congrats, TB90! Welcome to the 3D printing club. That Sculpto Pro 2 must be really good, esp. the Tinkercad integration. How reliable is it, if I may ask? Looking forward to seeing what else you plan to do with it.

Just so you know the file I tried printing was the 2nd of the two updated files that were on Thingiverse, unless there is another update available?  I'll be interested to see how your's goes, I hope it does come out ok Smile

I just did a file fix on Microsoft 3D builder & Ultimaker Cura and I'm in progress of 3D Printing right now. I posted it being 3D printed on Twitter shown here: https://twitter.com/TB90Backup/status/1546714924205891585?t=gYwDzinDs97ZlLov6BtzRA&s=19.

I finally did my first successful 3D print:

This is it against my failed print:

Because this one is a success, I'm pretty much going to print another one soon.

To be honest DalaGStanator, It's really reliable, I used PLA from the brand overture and did a great job printing as you can see in my previous post. And I will be making Wilbert and probably a couple others using 3D printing.

Congratulations T-Boy....looks like you now have a new hobby to delve into. I imagine all kinds of ideas are popping into your head for 3D projects now that you have gotten your feet wet 😁

RE: The New 3D Printing Thread - Trainboy90 Productions - 07-12-2022

I will be making another Trackmaster Hunslet Austerity shell very soon for another custom, I'll probably also make some new side rods as well I they found some online.
