I guess I should have defined the bridge as a Truss, Plate Bridge. The 4 piece red one in the set.  Which brings up another interesting point about this bridge. It is not made to span 2 straight rails. You have to use a pier in the middle between the 2 regular straight rails. The brick faced piers are better looking for this bridge IMO either brown or yellow. Since these original bridges came out they have made double (17") blue rails that could be used now to eliminate the center pier.

What you are describing is the big red iron bridge, だいてっきょう. That one is the first generation iron bridge, which is somewhat rare on its own today. There are green block piers, and I think it will look more ancient and rarer with it. The orange piers with holes are the ones that don’t come separately, so these are way more rare and unusable than the bridge. Too bad that some Showa era idea layout plans in the catalogue use these orange piers and adapters in their layouts.

梅小路プラキッズ Umekoji Plakids

From 5th April 2003, an event was held at the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum for about half a year to commemorate the release of Plarail C62 set. The backstory is here: http://plarail.age.st/report/umekouji.htm

I'm not a Plakid expert, so I asked my team and no one have ever seen the actual Plakids before as you need to attend that venue and those Plakids are not sold (but distributed). It is said that the Plakids made their first internet appearance in this auction that ended just a few hours ago: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k461005966

For that price, it is definitely worthy to be called a true phantom gem of Plarail. But it is not made before the red TOMY mark era, so it will not be a true phantom gem.

Wait a minute...two thousand dollars for 20 PlaKids??? Holy Smokes. Which ones are the rarest?

RE: Continuation of BigLobe Plarail Musuem - violater - 05-01-2020

The ones in the red box in the image. 2 men in black uniforms, Umekoji Plakids. I'm not too sure where the black uniform lady came from but it could be from the same event but distributed more.

The old man in gray is somewhat rare and based on a real life person: "President of Choppe Toy Store in Kamakura". I have it.

Amazing. I know there are many serious collectors of these Plakids and one thing is for sure...the collections don't take up too much space. Myself, I have hundreds of Plakids most are doubles and triples and most are the common ones in different variations.a couple from in that picture. I do like the ones that are different but then I like different in all aspects of collecting. Thanks Vio

Some of the not for sale Plakids lose nearly half their value because of the missing card that comes with it. Although the card does not contain information of the Plakid itself, but it contains the contact numbers of TOMY during that era, the ST mark which determines the year of production, the "not for sale" indicator, product JAN code, and the material used to make the Plakid. So it is best to keep the card with that Plakid together. I can safely assume that the Umekoji Plakids have their cards during the time of distribution, but samples are not found as of today yet.

I wonder if anyone has ever come up with exactly how many different PlaKids there actually are?

RE: Continuation of BigLobe Plarail Musuem - violater - 05-02-2020

Not sure, but this will be a very interesting topic.

We have knocked around the PlaKid subject in a few Threads like THIS one before but really didn't get much information except for a neat site that Geris LINKED us too and HERE
