Fiddling with voltages...

We've had several threads on here about trying to change the speed of PlaRail models by changing the motors etc... and several times it has been suggested that using different batteries you could speed a train up as the motors (even the stock ones) are often able to take 6v or even 12v for some types.

Well I found these on AliExpress for just a couple of dollars each, they enable the voltage to be either stepped up or down and are (in some cases) adjustable.  Ones that may be of particular interest are those that can take 3v and output 6v, sure your batteries would likely die quicker, but you should get the speed increase you want.  Here's some links;
