Thats pretty cool looking. Thanks for sharing Leylandvictory2 Wonder how much that wrapping would cost them?

You are welcome. The cost depends on how long you want the wrap on the train. The advertisements on GO Transit and most agencies in Canada are not painted on the vehicles. The advertisements are made out of plastic vinyl and use the heat torch to glue it on to the side of a vehicle.
Seems like something so big and the time it would take to install it, let alone the cost of the machine to make something so big, the materials and the computer software that must be needed, must certainly cost quite a bit. At least it seems so to me. I see so many of these especially on trucks, cars and buses nowadays. I wonder if there is a video on YouTube that might show how they produce these type vinyl wraps.

The advertisement comes in pieces. The people who assemble the wrap was given a diagram to tell them which vinyl piece goes where.

found an video that shows how wraps are being applied to a bus. In this case a Prevost h3-41

Oh, wow, Thanks Leland. That looks like it is very expensive and time consuming to install. Because of your link I checked out the other videos on the channel and this one shows a little behind the scenes. I would imagine that it must be a very large thermal printer/plotter or the like that can take about a 4 foot wide roll of vinyl. What amazes me is not the printer, the design software or the vinyl, its the installers that look to be artists more that just installers. You would think that all the heating and stretching that some parts of the graphics would be distorted. Have you ever tried to paint a straight line over bumps or installed a waterslide decal over something embossed and stand back to look at how the graphics change and the line no longer looks straight? They are truly remarkable. It must stand up to washes but does it have to be hand washed and not through a car, bus wash with brushes. Thanks for bringing this up as I have always wondered about this.
