Flip Face James Track Piece

7 Replies, 12153 Views

I would be grateful if someone could post a picture or two of the special track pieces that change James' face, please.

The pictures of boulder mountain that I've found show a blue button sticking up on one side of the track which obviously interacts with one of the tabs below James, but what triggers the other one to change his face back again? Is there's another one under the tunnel?

Maybe I should look on youtube?
I am not familiar with the set but I know that with the Lost and Found flip face Hiro 2 double button short tracks came with it. Each short track has a button on each side. Maybe you need another track like this one to place in the opposite direction on the layout to change the face back. I beleive I have also seen curved tracks with flip face buttons. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trackmaster-FLIP...4ae9ae11b7

I think the blue button you talk of activates the boulder to drop . The face switching piece is under the tunnel and is a switch track with the raised pieces on both sides . These are optional as you can raise and lower with a switch underneath the piece of track .
Different pieces also activate the trucks in ech o cave , copper mine and other sets .
this is what came with the tidmouth thomas flip face. they alternate sides to trigger the tabs underneath

this is the big piece from toby at the coppermine. the blue circle is the flip activator for the face. its quite different to the thomas one. im not sure what the "reverter" track piece looks like for this set, whether its the same as the thomas one or not. the tab here only activates to the worried face.

Sunhuntin, you are a star, many many thanks.

As it happens, a lot popped up on ebay.uk which pretty much reveals all. In this photo you can see the track pieces and their triggers which come with Thomas (circled blue), exactly as you have shown, plus the ones that come in the James at Boulder Mountain set (circled red).

The manual button which triggers the boulder is another thing again, clearly shown in the youtube video posted by Super. The curved piece must be positioned in the tunnel in this case.

nice one! did you buy it?
the tabs for james look the same as the thomas ones.

guess the reason for the different one on the copper mine is the thicker base, plus it seems to be connected to the stop/go switch along with everything else. likely a one piece mould.

Might have done, depends who's asking (can never be too careful, the grandson excuse is wearing a bit thin).

It looks like I've got the complete flip-face James at Boulder Mountain set, PLUS the remote control flip-face forwards-backwards & sounds Thomas and his activating track pieces from the Tidmouth Sheds set. I'm quite pleased with that. Let's hope it all works!

LOL, love it. i dont even use an excuse, though when people say they hope my son enjoys such and such, i dont correct them. [i dont have a son, or a daughter, unless my cats count as children]

nice score for your "grandson". two pieces well worth having. boulder james is on my to buy list.
