early tomy train

hello all, i got these today, i have no idea what they are, just early tomy trains, look like pre trackmaster, any help be appreciated

Those are the "prototype" thomas trains, back when Tomy was a little bit larger, same with the other trains there,

oh, does that make them rare?
Yes and no, I have none myself, so you'd have to ask Ucwepn, I believe he has the whole collection. And they aren't nessicarly prototypes, but are the first variant.

Yeah as said they are the old 'tomy trains'

I can remember the advers from TV when I was younger and me & my brother had a few trains & set, it's still at my mums house and my sons occasionally plays with it when we visit.....

They're great old toys but the connectors aren't fantastic (sometimes they want to mate vertically instead of horizontally) and the transmissions are so noisy! - and they all use the same chassis with interchangeable clip on bodies
