Creating A Female to Female Blue Track segment

3 Replies, 5719 Views

My friends toddler was laying out the tracks and manage to get two male parts from meeting each other. I looked in the eBay purchase box and could not find a female - female track segment. As I had a broken standard track segment I decided to make a female - female from it.

I made a short video

to go on my fixed1t Youtube site on how to do it.

I then made this longer video

of the female to female section in use, it added new possibilities but also means I don't have to try to explain to 3 year old Olli why they won't connect and try to rebuild which makes him sad as he thinks we are putting it away.

I hope somebody finds it useful, There is a link near the end to my TOMY train videos playlist, if you interested. I plan to make more changes and add ons for Olli as he loves trains, and "IT ISN'T COMPUTER GAMES" ;-)

good work Big Grin

you can buy these, but they are only short pieces. they were made in the dark blue, but the light blue will be easier to find.

Welcome fixed1t. Nice mod. I like how you even used a broken piece.
I AM NOT DEAD. Just inactive.
Excellent idea Mr Fixed1t

What a great way to re-purpose an already broken track. I think I may try that method to create an odd sized length straight track (3/4 length) for my gray track. But I will use the more plentiful blue track to practice with. I would need a normal male x female piece but your method would work on cutting and modifying the female side. Thanks for the videos.
