Thanks super, no unfortunately the signals not battery powered, it's just a coloured plastic cylinder inside the head that rotates when a train pushes the lever. The Chug Along Wagon I am very happy with, I thought it would be poor as its a striker hitting taught wires inside (if I remember correctly) and I imagined it to not sound right, but to my surprise when it's running it sounds pretty good!!!

Thanks Chris, I already have that base, although I don't have the Calais sign!

The one that came today is more Lego like, except it doesn't have the male parts over the whole surface, it has strips of flat areas, I'd have thought it was Lego except for the flat bits and the colour, I just wondered if it came from a particular set or something?

With that ebay listing, it looks like it's parts of the Eurostar/channel tunnel set. I'm sure I saw one on eBay a few weeks ago that had the cardboard tunnel with it, one side had France printed on it with some stereotypical French people whereas the other side had England printed with stereotypical English people, etc. It looked to be a nice interesting set, but was way too much money for me to be spending!

*edit* I've found it,

the workshed is designed to sit over the tracks. push the orange buttons on top, there should be a workman pop down on one end, and a sign with a spanner and another tool on the other.
theres a photo at the bottom of this page. for some reason im showing mine with a dark blue base, but i think yellow would have been what came with it.

although, looking at the very last photo here shows the sheds on the dark blue bases for use in the early thomas and percy set. so maybe they came both ways?

a similar design was released with the europark set, only it had just one button which showed a bat. it also had doors with ghosts on the inside and was white and purple.
