bandai motorised playset

had a lucky thrift shop score today for $2NZD, a japanese bandai motorized playset. currently its not working, but should be easy to fix hopefully. when the gearing is moved manually, all sounds free moving.

its missing two of the 3 engines, and the mountain has a couple of those rubber escalators to bring the engines back to the top of the track. there is only one track, but there are two entry and exit points for the mountain. they connect back together.

more pics, as always here:

worth it just for the box, i think!

james and the replacement bandai edward that is not compatible. james has a metal roller underneath, meaning he can race down the tracks quite quickly. sadly minis dont really work on it due to the raise in the middle of the track.

the insides. there is a bell and striker towards the bottom of the photo, and a gear that turns, raises the striker then releases. im guessing it sounds when the engine reaches the top of the escalator.

So the engine itself is motorized and the track setup is only motorized for an elevator? Never seen something like this before, pretty neat. Is the engine about the size of a Mini or maybe a Capsule?

geri: thanks. im just glad the sorters at the shop didnt put it in the trash pile. Smile

super, the engine is not motorised. its the same length as a mini, but not as tall. if you took the wheels off a mini, thats the height. the track is on an angle that isnt really obvious from looking at it. i put james at the top and he took off all the way down till he hit the escalator, which of course isnt going right now.

henry, going to do my best. Smile will take it along to the club on thursday and have a fiddle. we have assorted testing tools out there that i dont have myself, so will try those.

action, i havent made one due to it not functioning yet, and i havent looked to see if anyone has uploaded one either.
i did have a quick look on ebay and jauce and didnt see one listed, but i may have been looking in the wrong places. i searched bandai thomas with generally brought up those ones with the large black switches on the back end.
