Take Along/Take n Play knockoff?
#1
Hey everyone, Devious Red Diesel here!

I was just browsing around on Trade Me (New Zealand equivalent to E bay) and found some really weird dark side knock off Take Along trains!

If you want a better look at it here's the link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/toys-models/bat...527506.htm

It is quite peculiar because the tenders are mixed up, and the detailing doesn't look great either. Some of the faces are also slightly tilted or just odd to look at.

Anyone know anything about these or have anything else to add to this interesting knock-off find? Huh

There's quite a range of these if you dig around on eBay and Taobao. They even recolour Mack the truck from Cars to give each engine their own truck with custom decals to carry them around in! Quite a bit of effort for knock-offs.

Percy is (99%) "normal-looking" but has a Henry tender, Edward has six wheels that are too small and too far apart and has a blue Henry tender with Gordon's number, James is done right except his body is too dark, his wheels are wrong and so is his dome, and Thomas is just awkward. Really strange.

I believe I saw a "Stanley" not too long ago alongside a white Mack truck... round face Stanley, though, not arch-shaped! I kind of want it, despite it being a knockoff, just for the novelty of having a round-faced Stanley.

Would be nifty.

Here's a listing with images of the various truck sets.

How weird! Stanley looks really curved and rounded, and who is the yellow one? That is really interesting!

Yellow appears to be one of the Scottish Twins, Donald, minus tender, with his brother Douglas's number on his cab!
How strange!

That's correct. I actually remember seeing that round faced Stanley before.
