The other sealed off compartment - which one do you mean, the archway above the station entrance or the arches maintaining the canopies across the station on the front side?

Both of them are fitted with wires as I am known to believe, probably the station entrance contains the circuit board for the sound effects, while the arches under the canopy across the front side contain the LEDs used to power the light up feature being the station numbers above each track, but this feature has no way to trigger it - the circuit is probably not complete therefore the feature does not work, since the item was released towards the end of the TrackMaster HTC era - meaning the development of the item was never fully completed.
What "Other" compartment are you guys talking about? I don't see another one in any of the photos.

you can't see it in the photos that you posted.

if you look behind the archway... from the inside.... you will see 2 screws locking in an area that has no purpose.

i never bothered to look. i figured it must be where a speaker or light would go.

but its obvious that it is sectioned off.
What archway are we talking about and which station? The archway for the building above the stairs and which station, the one with the green battery cover or without?

the archway above the stairs and the 1 with the battery compartment

i do have a couple of questions for b'station though.
i haven't discussed this piece in a very long time.

i was wondering if the emily and/or stanley sets were ever directly sold in/by 1 chain of stores?
or were they just randomly distributed.

let me try to get the piece, super.

does this help?

to the left of the archway... bare
to the right flush and blocked/ locked in

anyway, regardless a beautiful piece.
by far one of the most detailed in the entire line

To my knowledge, trevor369, the Thomas and Emily at Knapford Station set was only sold in the US, released in 2007 and discontinued early - mid 2009, to make way for the 2nd edition being the light and sounds version.

The Knapford Celebration Set with Stanley I only know that set was first seen for sale in June 2009, so mid 2009, and most likely discontinued by late 2009 since it was only sold in US (it has no TOMY branding of any sorts on the box, and at the time TrackMaster TOMY was responsible for the subsidiary license of all the EU and AU TrackMaster merchandise (from 2008 - 2009), while HiT Toys Company had the main license dedicated to the merchandise sold only in the US (from 2007 - late 2009), with some things exclusively sold to Canada - these being the motorised Alfie, Percy's Mail Trucks 3-pack (presumably), etc.

Since I have never been to US in 2007-2009 I cannot say from my experiences in store about the availability of the items, I am simply sharing the information I have gathered from various reliable sources. Therefore, I cannot disclose whether these two sets were sold to specific stores. But I assume since the Knapford Celebration Set was only sold for a very short period of time (only a few months) and is practically a once in a lifetime opportunity to find it in a box now - the set was most likely sold in a bargain retailer, since the entire set looks like a collaboration of leftover stock HTC would have been trying to get rid of - example: the Stanley, Knapford, Thomas, Bertie, various road pieces, track, etc.

@Trevor369
How did I miss that??? UndecidedBlushConfused You are right Trevor...I checked my station and...there is a compartment there and a separate compartment/access underneath. I hadn't looked on the wall of the brick building, I had thought it would be on the floor. I am excited and must investigate further. Thank you very much for the clue.
