HNBG's 2023 purchases

Yeah, unlike cousin Tomica, Plarail does not have much interest in Vietnam, I think, so even interesting sets like these mostly get discounted (except for one store which remained my last resort). The store I bought from didn't have many remained anyway, so I knew I have to snatch one quickly.

Okay so, not Plarail this time, but it's still train-related because Plarail's cousin, Tomica, also has a history of releasing train models!

And true to what I put in my signature, I find all Tomica Shinkansen train possible within my country, and here they are!

Tomica releases models that is sized to fit in specific boxes like Plarail, so these Shinkansen cars also has compromises (mostly in length) in order to fit the boxes. As far as I can tell, they keep the nose length accurate like Plarail Advance.

I divided the Shinkansen I have into three groups, the lower diagonal ones have the scale of ~1/200; the upper right of ~1/190; and the upper left of ~1/165, which also receive little to no compromise at all (and both Mini-Shinkansen).

In group ~1/200, I have Shinkansen 700, N700, and N700 Mizuho-Sakura, the first one I bought new.

I lied, the other diagonally placed train is actually scaled ~1/190, which is the Maglev L0 series.

This one actually also receive no contractions, so it looks stupidly long. It rolls well, but it's quite light so it makes quite a loud noise while rolling.

In group ~1/190, I have Shinkansen E5 and E7.

E5 received quite a few damages on the wheels, so it can't roll well. E7, however, rolls the best out of the bunch.

In the last group, I have E3-2000 and E6.

This E3-2000 is the heaviest out of the bunch, which, while I feel great holding the car, it's prone to tumbling due to it being top-heavy.

Also, another, the Shinkansen H5 transporter, which I also bought brand new.

[Image: z4942991985417-53927c3a58a20d85edbabd57bb811c98.jpg]

Same mold as H5, but fitted with standard Tomica wheels for transportation on road. The standard Tomica axles and tow mechanism means that the H5 had to sit quite high, though still stable.

The most suprising thing is that despite being second-hand and cost around $1.50 each, the damage to the paint is fairly minimal, probably non-existent!

So yeah, thanks for reading me coping with having a de-facto train scale models.

It is, indeed, a real product from Tomica

Somehow bought it for 14 Singaporean dollars while I should have bought a Plarail train while there instead. Tomica is much more abundant in Vietnam.
