D51200 Real Steam Mod - Project

So I won this in a lot several months back and have been planning to take a look at what I could do with it. After taking him apart and found the issue of why it did not work, which was a severed wire in the rear coupling.

Mod 1 - Head lamp
This is the 1st mod that I started the other day. Drilling a hole, installing a 3mm GOW bulb, and putting it back together. Only to then realize there was way to much voltage. These bulbs are rated at 1.5v and with 3 AA batteries the train is getting about 4.5v. I ordered some 6v 3mm GOW bulbs so hopefully can finish this one up.

Mod 2 - LED swap
So I know we have discussed this a bit in the steam along Thomas and also the two Plarail steam and sound engines, but to my knowledge this has not been done yet. That is replacing the red led with a white one. I have ordered some 6v Led lamps and hope they will work for this mod. More to come on this one.

I may try and add this engine and the sound unit of the C62-2 set and see what it sounds like as well.
