Too much track!
#1
I am a bit overwhelmed with my recent ebay purchase. Could be nearly 15 boxes of stuff. More than pictured. I couldnt even fit it all in my car at once. I intend to try some large scale outdoor layouts but will probably need to re-home some as I am running out of space.

For example there is a whole box of annie and clarabel in well played condition. Could be good for custom carriages or spare couplings but I am determined not to throw anything in the bin!

Wow, looks like you may have hit the jackpot Rich. It also looks like you scored this huge Lot at a Yard Sale. Add this to the large buy you got a couple months ago and this will make a great garden Layout. Hope you have a big yard 😎😃👍

Thanks Super. My yard is a bit unusual - sloped with big rocks and grass between so it will make for an interesting layout. I set out all the trucks from the lot last night into groups and did a rough clean. The plastic really shines when you use a wet cloth - the quality and detail is beautiful to me. The tomy ones are much nicer that the few hit/mattel i got (in top right).

I can just imagine a long train of those. Even just for the trucks this looks like a great lot, I can't wait to see the rest

I went and picked up the rest of the lot last night - six more crates and a few extras the seller found since last time. We washed all the tunnels today including two roller coaster mountains (functionally complete, some accessories missing) which were filthy but came up great. We nearly lost the sun before the pic:

I brought the mountains inside and made a simple loop to use one but expanded it a little when the kids went to bed:

One part of the lot which made me curious were these capsule plarail tracks which I hadn't seen before. I did find a few videos about the engines on youtube but not many posts about the range on here. There is a mix of straight and curve which i am yet to sort - around half a kilo of track excluding the containers and some damaged pieces.

The capsule engines cost nearly.as much as a TS plarail on ebay for me with shipping so I dont think I will use it unless I later can get a friend visiting japan that finds one. The tracks come extra in the capsules so I imagine anyone with enough engines has a lot of track too.. Does anyone here collect capsule plarail or know more?

Although I have seen tons of Capsules in the Auctions and on YouTube I have never had any in hand. I am guessing that they would be easy to sell on Ebay though.

Another weekend and finally some more time to explore another crate from the lot, this time buildings:

I was suprised there was around 5 of each Thomas Station! Also mini turntables, some smaller houses and a few other unique buildings. I also seem to have the making of the Hit era Tidmouth sheds of which the instructions were conveniently just posted but may be missing some support beams.

There were a few other goodies at the bottom particularly cargo pieces for the trucks. I really like the coloured ball/balloon pieces and would be curious to know what set they came from. I will put them with Rosie and a pair of pink Lady trucks for my daughters birthday present.

I intend to use the yellow bridge supports in my planned garden layout and dig one side into the turf to make the track level.

I had time to clean a couple of the buildings tonight and will hopefully do more over the weekend. Does anyone else own this old Japanese style station (top right) or know about it?:

Another update over the weekend I sorted the Annie and Clarabel, counting 92 carriages in total:

We sorted the lot based on condition of their face stickers and fading condemning about 2/3rds on the left to scrap. Unfortunately the crate had some water damage and contained lots of bark and dirt from being stored outside.

Among those kept for now and cleaned were 6 long clarabels from steam Thomas (back right) and 1 chuffing annie with rubber wheels (there is a thread on here with more info). I then dismantled about 25 to collect couplings exclusively 2002 chasis and kept aside all 1992 with the logic new couplings will be less brittle and I can reassemble a carriage easy if they are all same kind.

The couplings will be used to repair the trucks from the lot which are more useful in multiples and in my experience generally more collectible.

I am hoping to list the remaining shells and wheels for sale at next to nothing and hopefully they find their way to someone that does customs and can 3d print more couplings/save them from landfill.

The long Clarabels confirm my suspicion that this lot is made of parts from the steam along thomas set the one realised for a anniversary, however I can't remember wich one

I think you're definitely not lacking in branch line coaches
