Repairing TNA Trains

15 Replies, 2716 Views

Hi everyone,
I have these 3 TNA Engines which I would love to repair. I have tried getting all 3 to work but I am not as skilled with soldering as I thought nor do I have the time to sit down with them for a few hours. Would anyone here be willing to fix them on commission?
I have the following:
TNA (Japanese) Plarail Henry
TNA (American?) MRR James
TNA (British) MRR Thomas

I've attached a photo of the 3. They have all their pieces aside from some bad connectors which broke off due to corrosion.
If anyone is interested in doing the commission and has an offer or knows anyone they could refer me to, or just any suggestions overall, anything is appreciated.
Thanks for reading,
Joe

I LOVE repairing trains but I've never repaired a TNA before and wouldn't want to risk breaking yours, unless you're okay with that risk then I'd be happy too.

What is the wire color at James?

Let me think on this and get back to you. I'd really like to get these fixed but I don't have many spare parts in case something breaks/ needs to be replaced.

I watched a video on how to fix TNA engines and it appears to just be soldering wires, I thought it would be more complex than that, that's why I thought I would break something.

This is the James. the reason why I said "American?" is because I haven't heard it run to know if it is for sure, but I do suspect it is. But let me know if I am incorrect.
Orange and red wires running to the tender.

@fauxwheeldrive7 I see. The orange wire is not the original one. The TNA have only Red blue for Japanese, Black Red for British and Green Red is American. But in this case it possible to be British or American one if you say it’s motor road & rail.
HMMMM!
