Wartsilaone's Garden Railway

The track bed is covered in roof felt for protection from the rain and looks good. The awnings are made to fold flat against the fence and give an unobstructed view of the railway but they are troublesome. I plan to replace them with a fixed perspex roof.
We have dogs, it was important to make sure they weren't tempted to climb up. Lighting in the trains and buildings will be installed in time.

Wow! My son and I are impressed!! He said great job and he wants to go there.
I told him your probably very far away which is too bad...he could watch that awesome train run for hours!!

I've been working on the area at the bottom of the garden under the tree. This will be the site of the station, as you can see it's been completely enclosed to stop the leaves falling on the track but it will of course shield it from the elements.

Good idea with covering around the curve where the station will be. Bet you will appreciate that when the leaves are falling from the tree. I am surprised at how good I can hear the trains running outside. Will you be building the station from scratch? Are those real plants along the rail in the first video? It is all coming along great and looking good. Thanks for the update.

Hi Super, The station platform will have to be made from scratch but I'm hoping to use some canopy pieces cut to make a curved roof. The plants are plastic and are made for fish tanks so they are very durable.

Great idea using aquarium plants for an outdoor garden railway. After seeing what magic you performed on the North Sea Ferry model I am more that excited about seeing what you will create for a "N" scale station. By the way, what scale was the Ferry built it?

That is amazing and you have done so much in a short period of time. Those are some long trains. Does one engine pull the whole thing? I really like the onboard shots too, gives a sense of realism. Thanks for keeping us informed on the progress of your garden railway. Look forward to your continuing the build next year.

I just love looking at that fantastic ferry you built and displayed very nicely. Is this your hobby room? Curious as to what is in the cabinet to the left of the ferry. Is that more scratch built miniature ships or trains?

Neat. Most garden railways are in G scale. Plus I tend to take plural outside every now and then.
