Track layout instructions

Hello,

Not sure how to explain this, here it goes.

When you buy like a train set, it comes with instructions to track layout,
diagram ?

How does one create one ? What programs would one need or use ?
Hi Cassino,

This is a difficult question to answer.

It depends on your computer skills and what you are willing to learn.

You can use simple drawing tools, word processing, professional drawing tools, text editors or even dedicated track layout programs.

A simple drawing tool could be like Microsoft Paint (if you are on a Windows computer).

Professional drawing tools could be like Adobe Photoshop (this costs money to buy).

Word processing tools such as Word can be used but it would be VERY CLUMSY.

If you are a computer/software enthusiast, you can even use notepad to 'draw' your image using the alphabet characters (search ASCII art on google).

There are dedicated track layout programs online that are free. I think this would be the best option if you want to be able to draw complicated layouts.

Are you asking on what kind of computer program to use to create and draw up a design layout or how to build a layout?

You may want to PM member Undazeraw as they created a drawing of some tracks they were creating for the Thomas Minis Trains. Here is the picture and a link to the Forum. Check out page 38 and scroll down. http://www.blueplastictracks.com/showthr...2#pid13432

Nice Thanks.

Also where do we download Tomy instructions, like for ultimate set, mega set, infact all the sets ?
I lost my instructions for my mega set and ultimate set.

Is there an actual site for them anywhere ?
Every time I google it takes me to places to download an .exe which I wont do.

How about another section on the forums where people can upload their instruction sheets/manuals for others if and when one needs it ?
In terms of track design type packages there are quite a few out there if you just google for them. Most are even freeware which is cool. However none of the ones I found support the Tomy/Trackmaster track despite having extensive track type libraries by most of the major manufacturers in most scales.

However I suspect if people were to contact the authors they may well be prepared to create a relevant track library to support Tomy/Trackmaster or if not at least tell us how to create one. After all it would then give their product an advantage over all the other software packages out there and potentially access to the Japanese plarail market Smile

You can always post for a particular sets instructions here to see if someone might send you a copy of theirs. In the mean time wouldn't just a picture from the box be sufficient.

Entering tomy.co.uk on the Wayback Machine and visiting an archived version of the website from 2006 onwards will give you a selection of manuals, but not specifically the sets you're looking for, bearing in mind that parts of the website won't work.
