This site has many interesting pics http://japanrail.free.fr/ also, There's a Plarail group on Flickr with 32 members worldwide, as well as over 300 photo's, including some customised models https://www.flickr.com/groups/1753030@N21/
That first link is just what I was looking for - brilliant, thank you - can't spot the train on there that you are using as an avatar though.

My avatar is a 3D printed class 60 locomotive body. I don't have the faintest idea about 3D printing, so last year, I paid a 3D designer to come up with computer aided design (CAD) drawings and now, anyone can buy a class 60 from Shapeways. All you are buying is a plastic type, white base colour, unpainted body shell, which fits onto the Plarail EF58 electric locomotive chassis - This is quite a straightforward project, but to keep the cost as low as possible, these are intended to be a head start on scratch building, so please be aware that you will need to cut your own slot in the roof for the on/off switch ! The 3D guy, that I hired, is a freelance designer and charges a one off payment, typically around £200 for his CAD drawings which Shapeways then use, to manufacture the model when a customer orders one.
I would consider co-ordinating another 3D model later this year and I was considering a class 20 or 37 as they have been around for half a century in the UK.
The price is expensive I'm afraid, at £49 per body shell, but there doesn't seem to be any other way to make the cost more reasonable. One printing firm I approached, wanted to charge an outrageous £250 for only one body shell so, without doubt, (for anyone who fancies having a go at planning their own design/print idea) it pays to shop around.

i like the model - also good to see experimentation like that.
By the way, I'm open to suggestions for the next 3D loco body design, so fire away folks and suggest your suggestions on here and I will see what I can do !
Please bear in mind that one body will cost around £50, as with the class 60 project.
There's so many things that could be made and maybe some-one on here has done 3D modelling and could do their own product ?

Hello and welcome to the wide world of plarail.

I'm no expert and I don't know which other models have two speeds, but I just bought this one for my son and it has hi and low speeds.

The low speed is pretty sedate. The Hi speed isn't super fast, but it's a 6 car train, so that might have something to do with it.

That's its a sweet train and available quickly via Prime is not bad either!

I don't recall seeing a Plarail train that came with six units right out of the box. Is this common, or is it just that one?

Actually, UC, only the second one you showed (which is the one Eilif bought for his son) has six units. I do know about the Thomas and Freight Cars set.
