I found the same C11 set (second hand) after developing an interest when finding one for UCWEPN.

the farthest back I can trace the C12 as part of the normal Tomy Plarail retail range is 1974. hope this helps

Maybe because the C12 was so much earlier that they had no center wheel like the C11 did.

I quite like the dummy engines. Mostly because of the front hook allowing the look of tandems/double header trains.

I've seen a green dummy engine in a set to but it was quite pricey.

it comes in a 3 car set. I'm pretty sure it had a Diesel (maybe ef81 green) leading, carriage them dummy dd51 or de10. Something like that. I'll try to find it and post a link.
