McDonald Tomy Train

I also got a couple of McDonald Trains with the lot I purchased a couple of weeks ago.  I have a feeling the Tomy trains were given out with the Kids Happy Meal in Japan.  The kids in Japan must be very lucky to get these kind of toys.  I did some digging.

Apparently only the locomotives were made for McDonald.  No carriages or rolling stocks are made.  They have the same gauge as regular Tomy trains but the length is a bit shorter about 50% smaller than the regular train.  Due to its size, it is not surprising they are not motorize.

There is a button on the roof that allow to change the characters that you see on the side of the train.

These do indeed look like McDonalds trains. They typically do these once a year, its a tradition sort of like Barbie and Hot Wheels in the states. While not motorized some have other methods of launching such as pulling back, a friction drive, or pulling back and releasing what would normally be the power switch. Sadly however there are quite a few that just free wheel.
