How To Replace a Split/Stripped Axle Gear

I had seen this before and I did find some but I don't think what I found was this small and I am not sure they had boltless bottoms, at least for a decent price. Even with this you will have to creat spacers to slip the gear on far enough. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee50...7d9nat.jpg

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, would likely need something or eyeball its. I have been using some pliers and a hammer to tap the gear on. A bit crude but so far it seems to work. I have done a couple and which seem to be almost like a factory fit. I wish I could get the gears already made in the right size, but sanding them works too. Cool little device though.
Yes its cool and it can be used for other hobby projects.

Just received this little helper from Ebay, $8.99 & Free Shipping. What attracted me to this one that it was advertised with a 1 1/2" jaw opening whereas the others I had seen advertised as 1" opening. This bigger opening accompanies the wheel axle and the spacers needed to press the gear on all the way to its proper position. This is made of pot metal and I love the hard plastic rollers used for tubing and possibly can be used to bend tubing. Not the most precision of vises but for the price and for what I will use it for I think it will do. Think I will make a couple of removable jaw covers using Styrene plastic for delicate parts.

Sweet. Do you have a link to the item you purchased or could you PM me what you searched for? This would be an improvement to my current setup. Thanks.
Sure
